Elizabethton school board members sworn in

Three school board members elected to the Elizabethton Board of Education Nov. 6 were sworn in Wednesday afternoon.

Incumbent Rita Booher and newcomers Phil Isaacs and Grover May all took their oaths of office during a short ceremony at noon in city hall.

Isaacs received the most votes with 2,291, or 22.23 percent.

Booher came in second with 1,991 votes, or 19.32 percent, and May secured the third seat with 1,736 votes, or 16.84 percent.

Booher was elected for the third time to the board. She was first elected to fill a half-term in 2006 following a recall election. This term will be her second full term on the school board. Booher is a graduate of Elizabethton High School and East Tennessee State University. She is campus visit coordinator at Milligan College.
