The next time the group performs, the audience will be listening to a star-spangled, state champion ensemble.

The choral ensemble earned a Superior A ranking at the Tennessee ACDA State Choral Festival in Knoxville Friday. The group also earned a Superior 1 rating at the Tennessee Music Education ETVA J.B. Lyle Choral Festival regional competition in March.

“It was absolutely wonderful,” said Choral Director Debbie Gouge. “This is the first time the ensemble has been to state in a while. It has been at least five years. None of the current members have been to a state competition.”
