Eight hopefuls in race for Unaka High Homecoming Queen crown

10:00 am | September 20, 2013

As Unaka High School prepares for its Homecoming festivities this evening, eight seniors wait to see which of them will be selected to wear the crown of Homecoming Queen.

Before a queen is crowned, however, the school will be treated to a special dinner provided by the school’s graduating class of 1993. After dinner, the Ranger football team will prepare for its game against Cloudland High. The Homecoming ceremony, which is sponsored by the UHS Quarterback Club, will, of course, reach its peak when the queen is announced at halftime.

The candidates are: Kelsey Campbell, Jessie and Shanda Matheson, Sierra Garland, Sierra Gouge, Michelle King, Caitlyn Buckles, and Marisa Williams.

After the queen has been crowned and the game is decided, students will be treated to an event that hasn’t transpired at the school for six years – a Homecoming dance. The entire student body is welcome to attend.
