The lady is the champ, again.
Elizabethton senior Clarissa Ceffalo captured her third straight state wrestling championship on Saturday at the Williamson County Agricultural Expo Arena. Ceffalo defeated Science Hill’s Olivia Cannon on an 8-3 decision for the 185-pound girls’ title in Franklin.
“I was happy that I won,” Ceffalo said. “But I am very upset that this was the last match of my high school career.”
She was also rewarded as the tournament’s most outstanding wrestler after closing the season with a 13-0 record.
“I tried my hardest,” Ceffalo said. “Those girls tried very hard. They were really gunning for me.
“I am proud. I am so happy.”
Ceffalo prevailed by decision 6-2 over Clarksville Northeast’s Teneia Aliki in the semifinals.
