Abbi Pierce and Katie May, a pair of juniors who each qualified for the state track and field meet a year go, return to lead Elizabethton’s girls this spring.
The Lady Cyclones are the defending and two-time Three Rivers Conference champions.
Pierce finished third place at Murfreesboro in the 1,600-meter run. May was eighth in the 300 hurdles.
On the boys’ team, the top sprinters are expected to be seniors Garrett Wood and Tyler Adkins.
The leading distance runner is junior Tyler Orfield. Another junior, Matthew Albritton, should also contribute.
Milligan College-signee Jacob Henson keys the Longhorns in the 100 and long jump.
“We are looking forward to a great year again this year,” Johnson County coach Penny Gentry said. “Our top athlete would have to be Jacob Henson. He is a powerhouse for us in the 100 and long jump.”
