EHS Sports HOF induction set3:21 am | September 5, 2013
The newest Elizabethton High School Sports Hall of Fame induction class features six multiple-sport standouts.
James “Cotton” Jarrett, Michael Morrell, Adam Walton, Eddie Pless, Derek Nave and Kenneth Humphrey will each add their accolades to the wall during the annual induction ceremony, a highlight of Homecoming Week, on Thursday, September 12 at 6:30 p.m. inside Treadway Gymnasium.
Jarrett (football and golf) followed a solid prep career at EHS with a nice run at Florida State under Bobby Bowden, starting 25 games and landing a spot on the All-Half Century team.
Morrell (basketball and football) was an All-Conference performer in two sports prior to making his mark at Milligan College and presently as a college basketball coach.
Pless (football, basketball, tennis, track, baseball) was a force in football, but shined in four other sports before embarking on a career as an educator and coach.
Walton (football, baseball, basketball) shone on the gridiron and diamond before a four-year starting role on the ETSU football squad.
Nave (football, track) was a dominant linebacker and field athlete, recording 174 tackles as a senior. He later earned All-American track honors at King College.
Humphrey (basketball, track, baseball) was a captain on the hardwood under Coach John Treadway and an outfielder on the 1958 Cyclones state baseball squad.
