E-Twins breeze past Kingsport

It has been a troubling July for the Elizabethton Twins, but on Tuesday night they righted their ship with a 7-1 win over Kingsport to end a two-game losing streak.

The Twins had fallen to 18-18 after a 14-4 start, but the victory put ’Betsy over the .500 mark once again. Right hander Josh Burris (1-1, 4.05) pitched five shutout innings, giving up just three hits over that span and earning his first win of the season.

Burris struck out three and walked three and was the beneficiary of some stellar defense by shortstop Ryan Walker, catcher Mitchell Garver and center fielder Zach Granite.
