E-Twins begin defense of league championship2:47 am | June 20, 2013
Another season, another championship to chase for a new group of Elizabethton Twins.
Returning nine players, including seven from last year’s Appalachian League title run, the newest group will open the 2013 campaign tonight at home against the Bristol White Sox with another pennant on their minds.
Leading the way is longtime manager Ray Smith, who begins his 28th year with the organization and 21st as the skipper. The winningest coach in rookie league baseball history, Smith has an overall record of 791-486 with eight consecutive playoff appearances and six Appalachian League titles.
