ONEIDA — Coby Jones threw touchdowns passes of 62 and 42 yards late in each half, but Hampton was unable to stop Oneida’s running game or muster much of their own, falling 31-14 here Friday night.

“At times we played pretty good,” Hampton coach Mike Lunsford said. “At times we didn’t. Our young kids are playing really well, though, at times.

“We did some things pretty good, but at other times we made some bone-head mistakes.”

The sophomore quarterback completed five of 10 passes for 145 yards. His first touchdown pass cut the deficit to 17-6 late in the second quarter, helping Hampton seize the momentum heading into the lockerroom at halftime.
