Director says championship performance the best he’s seen

The Elizabethton High School Betsy Band shot “Wright to the Moon” on Saturday to win its second state band championship in three years.

The band won top honors in nearly every division at the Tennessee State Division II Championship Saturday night in Franklin, Tenn. The EHS band earned a score of 93.6 to top second-place Page High School of Franklin by 1.4 points.

EHS Band Director Perry Elliott called the championship performance the best he had seen in the 22 years he has led the band.

The show for the 2012 season was “Wright to the Moon,” which followed the country’s history in aviation from the Wright Brothers to the space shuttle program.
