While snow may have put a chill on community trick-or-treating in the higher elevations, the Halloween festivities will continue where conditions allow throughout the county.

The annual downtown trick-or-treating will be held as planned in downtown Elizabethton today from 3-5 p.m. The Downtown Business Association and the city of Elizabethton are sponsoring the trick-or-treating. DBA President John Bunn has encouraged all of the downtown merchants to stay open and participate.

“It is an alternative to children going door-to-door in other areas,” Bunn said. “With snow in some parts of the county, our covered sidewalks and free parking make this a good choice for both the parents and the children. They can come here early and will be able to make it home before dark.”
