Date set for Animal Shelter dedication

It is time to mark the calendar: One month from today, the new Elizabethton/Carter County Animal Shelter will be dedicated.

The Animal Shelter Building Committee agreed on the date of Saturday, Sept. 28 and 12-3 p.m. as the time to invite the community to celebrate the nearly completed facility.

With years of waiting just about behind them, Jerry Smith, project manager of the new animal shelter construction, said items on the punch list are dwindling down.

“We are nearly there,” Smith said. “The building inside is pretty much finished.”

Smith said a pre-final inspection is scheduled to take place on Friday at 9 a.m.

Ceiling insulation, touch up paint, some grading and seeding still need to be completed on site, Smith said.
