Cyclones soccer takes measure of Grainger

The night belonged to Elizabethton’s eight seniors. It was a freshman that stole the show.

Pedro Texiera capped a first track hat trick with a second half goal and the Cyclones secured a home tournament game with a 6-3 victory over Grainger at Brown-Childress Stadium Tuesday night.

“We were good today,” said Texiera, whose four-goal haul continued a stellar season for the youngester. “We slept sometimes on their attacks, but we played pretty great overall. We’re getting ready for the playoffs.”

Texiera scored three goals in the first half as Elizabethton built a 3-1 halftime lead. Grainger made it interesting in the second half with two more goals, but Teve Mushayamunda and Anthony Ceffalo added goals along with Texiera’s fourth to put it away for the Orange & Black.
