There’s nothing Pearl Smith enjoys better than being in the kitchen cooking a meal.
Unless it’s Friday night and there’s a football game at Elizabethton High School. Pearl then sheds the apron, puts the leftovers in the refrigerator, and she’s off to cheer for the Cyclones.
Before the game Friday night, the Cyclones honored Pearl – a fixture at Elizabethton High School football games for the past 50 years – for her dedication, and Mayor Curt Alexander even proclaimed Oct. 12, 2012, as “Pearl Smith Day.”
It came as a big surprise for Pearl, who only expected to cheer on her two grandsons and two great-grandsons who play for EHS
