The Elizabethton Cyclones opened their Three Rivers Conference schedule with a bang on Friday night on Dave Rider Field with a 49-0 whitewashing of Sullivan East behind a combined 240 yards rushing.
Junior Ethan Thomas played just the first period and carried the ball just seven times, but it was good enough for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and sophomore tailback Jeremiah Turner added 61 more ground yards on five carries.
“The key for us is any time you come off a tough loss is get back to work,” said Cyclones head coach Shawn Witten. “We came out and did what we were supposed to do and try to avoid being sloppy. We executed our plays, got a lot of kids in there and we still have a long way to go.”
