For a select number of basketball programs, the relationship is tighter than bark on a tree. Certain teams log an appearance from time to time, while others always get the short end of the stick.
When it comes to making the TSSAA state tournament’s guest list, that’s basically the nature of the beast.
While Elizabethton High isn’t well-acquainted with playing on the state’s grandest stage for boys basketball, the Cyclones aren’t total strangers to that particular spotlight.
EHS has five state appearances to its credit, and this month marks the 30-year anniversary for one of those occasions. The 1982-83 team ascended to the Class AAA semifinals in Nashville, rounding out an unforgettable 31-7 campaign.
