Crew finds meth lab across road from school

A suspected small mobile meth lab was found on Keenburg Road, directly across the street from Keenburg Elementary, by a Carter County litter crew Wednesday afternoon.

In an incident report by Carter County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Harmon Duncan, he reported that he and Deputy Kelly Huff responded to the scene shortly after noon and found a complete meth lab on the side of the road in a plastic bag.

“From first appearance, the components appeared very recently active and likely still active,” Duncan wrote in the report.

The lab was determined to be only a few hours old because it had very little moisture accumulated from Wednesday morning’s heavy rains.
