Emergency workers prepare a stretcher for Jamie Denise Davis, 23, after her Chevy Caprice collided with a dump truck Monday on U.S. Highway 19E near Whitehead Hollow Road.

A Roan Mountain woman was injured after authorities say she turned into the path of a county dump truck.

On Monday afternoon, Jamie Denise Davis, 23, 169 Dolan Hollow Road, Roan Mountain, was transported after a collision with a Carter County Highway Department dump truck on U.S. Highway 19E, near Whitehead Hollow Road.

Shortly after the wreck, Tennessee Highway Patrol Sgt. Jonathan Street said it appeared Davis attempted to make a U-turn while traveling toward Hampton from Roan Mountain.

“She had passed the truck previously,” Street said. “He was coming up the hill. She had stopped on the shoulder … then she cut back and did a U-turn in front of him, from a stopped position, to try to go back to Roan Mountain.”
At the time, Street said he was unaware of whatever motivation Davis may have had for attempting to make the turn.
