Ronald Clark Moon, 18, 247 Riggs Road, Watauga, was the driver. His passenger, Delia Guinn Moon, 42, was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the Carter County Rescue Squad, which was assisted by the Watauga Volunteer Fire Department.

Tennessee Highway Patrol Officer Greg Marlowe said wearing a seat belt was the main reason the passenger escaped with minor injury.

Marlowe also said there were no indications of alcohol or drugs, and stressed that no one should drive while tired or fatigued.

Ronald Moon was charged with failure to exercise due care and violation of the financial responsibility law.
