County Finance Director Ingrid Deloach discusses what is needed for the Financial Management Committee to present a consolidated budget to the full county commission on July 21.

The goal is for the County Commission to agree upon and adopt a budget by July 21, according to Finance Director Ingrid Deloach.

Prior to the July deadline, the Financial Management Committee’s goal is to present a consolidated budget to the County Commission in June. Beginning the first and second week of February, outside agencies and county departments will have two weeks to submit their budgets.

“It’s basically the same thing it is every year,” Deloach said.

That isn’t to say everything is the same, however.

Although the meetings were called budget workshops for the 2013-2014 fiscal year budget, Deloach said they will now be called budget hearings instead.

“There was a lot of confusion last year about whether they were budget workshops or budget hearings,” she said. “Per the advice we received from CTAS (County Technical Assistance Service), it’s supposed to be published as a budget hearing. So, this year our workshops will be called hearings. We will still be doing the same thing, but we will be calling them something different.”
