The Carter County School System is one step closer to being Skyward-bound.

The Carter County Board of Education approved a budget amendment at its Thursday meeting to move forward with a new student information system.

The change was initiated at the state level after the former statewide Star Student Management System had a change in ownership. Five vendors were placed on a state-approved list for school systems to choose from.

“I think the state was trying to give school systems more options,” said Ingrid Deloach, county finance director.

During the meeting, a new piece of information surfaced regarding funding for the new student information system in the county.
