Council lauds Edens at final meeting

By

City Council and fellow city employees paused to recognize City Manager Fred Edens Thursday during his last meeting before retirement.

Edens will retire from his post as city manager on Jan. 4 after almost five years with the city of Elizabethton. Edens was hired on April 7, 2008. When announcing his retirement, he expressed a desire to help care for aging family members and to take some time to relax and care for himself as reasons for his decision.

During the meeting, Mayor Curt Alexander and Director of Street and Sanitation Danny Hilbert presented Edens with plaques, and thanked him for his dedication to the city and to city employees.
