Construction continues on county’s new Little Milligan Convenience Center

Work is progressing at Carter County’s new Little Milligan Convenience Center near the intersection of Highway 321 and Highway 67.

Carter County Landfill Manager Benny Lyons updated the Landfill Committee Thursday morning on the project. The landfill has two convenience centers, one in Roan Mountain and a second in Elk Mills. The committee had sought to relocate the Elk Mills Convenience Center from its location on Green Hollow Road to the intersection of Highway 321 and Highway 67.

No new money has been used to work on the project; funding comes from reallocated funds. The proposal had previously been approved by the Landfill Committee, the Budget Committee and the full County Commission, and work began soon after the proposal was approved.
