The Elizabethton Senior Dance Club will hold a dance at the Elizabethton Elks Lodge, No. 1847, 1000 N. Sycamore St., from 7 to 10 p.m. Music for the dance will be provided by the Rambling Rose Band. Those attending the event are asked to bring finger foods to share. There is a $6 door charge.

Southern Countrymen Band will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at The Outdoorsman on Stone Drive in Kingsport. Admission is $5. For more information, call Daryl Goodman at 943-5600.

The Green Pastures Group of Alcoholics Anonymous will meet at 8 p.m. in the Conference Room at Crossroads, 413 East Elk Ave., Elizabethton.

The Johnson City Grand Squares — a square dance and round dance club — will hold the annual Watermelon Dance from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Johnson City Seniors Center, 607 Myrtle Ave. The dance will feature square rounds and lines. Saturday-July 14

Jerry Pierce & The Nightlife Band will perform at 5 p.m. during the Carter County Car Show at the Borla facility at the Okolona exit in Johnson City. The facility is located at 500 Borla Drive, formerly 3000 Bill Garland Road, Johnson City.

The fourth annual Elizabethton/Carter County Community Foundation Golf Tournament in memory of Peggy Merryman will be held at the Elizabethton Golf Course, with registration beginning at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served at noon with a shotgun start for play at 1 p.m. The tournament is open to two-person teams that can be comprised of men, women, mixed and seniors of all playing abilities. The James Montgomery Family Reunion will be held at noon at Hampton Christian Church Picnic Shelter. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and enjoy fellowship with others. Paper products and drinks will be furnished. For more information, call 543-8105 or 542-4502.

A family reunion for the descendants of Calvin T. and Diana Adelaide Greenwell Andrews will be held at Shelter No. 3 in the Roan Mountain State Park Campground. The reunion will begin at 10:30 a.m., with a potluck lunch served around noon. Attendees are asked to please bring a covered dish to share. Paper products are supplied. Distant Thunder will perform from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. at Buffalo Ruritan Club in Bluff City. Admission is $5.

Narcotics Anonymous “Just For Today” group will meet at the Crossroads Building at 12:15 p.m. Enter through the entrance at the rear of the building.

 

Sunday-July 15

The Lyons-Arnett-Markland Family Reunion will be held at 1 p.m. at Picnic Shed No. 2 at Roan Mountain State Park. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish and drinks to share. All family members and friends are welcome. For more information, call Elsie Bare at 725-2805.

The Watauga Valley Art League will hold its annual summer picnic at Winged Deer Park in the Meredith Pavilion off Carroll Creek Road in Johnson City. Members are asked to bring a pot luck item of their choice. The League will provide the meat and the paper goods for the picnic. Activities will begin at 9 a.m. with coffee and sweet rolls with the main meal being served from 1 to 2 p.m. League members will be painting bird houses for use in a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Unicoi. Monday-July 16

Elizabethton Pizza Hut will host a fundraiser night from 5 to 8 p.m. to benefit Carter County 4-H. Pizza Hut will donate $2.50 for each adult buffet and $1.25 for each children’s buffet to Carter County 4-H. Pizza Hut will offer an all-you-can-eat pizza, pasta, salad and dessert buffet available during this time for only $10 per adult and $5 per child (price before sales tax). Price includes soft drink or iced tea. The restaurant is located at 415 W. Elk Ave., Elizabethton. This fundraising event provides monies for educational opportunities for Carter County 4-H members.
