Saturday-July 7

The Blevins Family Reunion will be held at the old Southside School building at 1 p.m. Descendants of the children of George Mottern and Finnie Hays Blevins are encouraged to attend. Children are Belle Rosenbaum, Jim Blevins, Minnie Minton, Effie Carr, Carrie Sams, Mamie Morse and Sue Dillinger. The meal is pot luck. Organizers would like to have representatives from each of the children’s families. Come have a good time talking over old times while meeting family and friends.

The descendants of the Samuel and Rose Trusler (Large) Family will have their Yearly Family Reunion at the Church of God Fellowship Hall on the corner of Roan Street and E Street. Dinner will be served at 1 p.m., so don’t be late. Those attending are asked to bring food for their family and enough to share with others. This dinner is better known as Show Off Day.

East Tennessee Spay and Neuter will hold a benefit yard sale at the old Post Office building at 503 First Ave., Hampton, beginning at 8 a.m. All proceeds will benefit the work of East Tennessee Spay and Neuter. The 22nd annual Mack and Oma Tolley Family Reunion will be held at 1 p.m. at the Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, Riverview Road. All family members and friends are invited. Those attending are asked to bring a covered dish, drinks and any family memorabilia they might have. Lunch will be served between 1 and 1:30 p.m.

The family of Rev. Brownlow and Delia Richardson Vance will hold their annual family reunion at 1 p.m. at Roan Mountain State Park, Shelter No. 1. All family and friends are invited. The Watauga Valley Art League will hold its annual summer picnic at Winged Deer Park in the Meredith Pavilion off Carroll Creek Road in Johnson City. Members are asked to bring a pot luck item of their choice. The League will provide the meat and the paper goods for the picnic. Activities will begin at 9 a.m. with coffee and sweet rolls with the main meal being served from 1 to 2 p.m. League members will be painting bird houses for use in a fundraiser for Habitat for Humanity of Unicoi.
