Commission recognizes notable Stoney Creek businessman
The Carter County Commission has formally recognized lifelong farmer and businessman Conway Hyder for his contributions to the community.
At the Sept. 17 commission meeting, Hyder received a standing ovation when Mayor Leon Humphrey presented him a plaque.
“He has always been active in the community,” Humphrey told the audience.
Hyder lives on Dry Hollow Road in the Stoney Creek section of the county, where he continues to operate a large farm with his son Jim. It was there, Hyder and his father, J.L. Hyder, farmed on 200 acres.
