Carter County Commissioners agreed on conditions for an exclusive one-year rescue squad contract Monday — three years less than the squad had requested.
Richard Norris, attorney for Carter County Emergency and Rescue Squad, did not immediately accept the conditions offered by the commission: “We’ve got a board meeting tomorrow (Nov. 20) night,” he said. “We’ll get back to you.”
The rescue squad, which has seen a $101,000 budget reduction over the past year, was seeking an exclusive four-year contract with Carter County instead of asking for additional funds. Norris cited employee concerns and financial stability as the primary motivators for the length of the contract.
