Cloudland’s ladies roll past Unaka

loudland needed some “Sparks” off the bench to ignite its offense and found the key “match” to do it with early in the game.

Rachel Sparks scored seven first-quarter points that helped the Lady Highlanders run roughshod over Unaka 59-21 inside of Snavely Gymnasium Tuesday night.

Cloudland got two baskets by Courtney Clarke and one from Courtney Wilson to go up 7-2 — but failed to score on its next six trips down the floor.

Enter Sparks, who scored five straight (including a 3-pointer) to push the Lady Highlanders’ lead to 12-2. Her layup at the buzzer capped off a 7-0 run and put the Lady ’Landers up by a dozen heading into the second period.
