Cloudland takes pair from Johnson County

By

Whistles blew as frequently as a cop directing traffic on Broadway Thursday night at Sonny Smith Gym as Cloudland took a pair from Johnson County in varsity basketball.
The Highlanders (8-3) doubled up the Longhorn total early in the third period and ran away with a 74-48 win while the girls took a foul-plagued contest by a 46-33 tally.
Senior forward Dylan McClellan scored 13 of his game-high 21 points in the first half and sat out the fourth quarter. The ’Landers forced Johnson County into 17 turnovers — many leading to baskets at the other end of the floor.

The Lady ’Landers (4-6) struggled with three-point shooting in the first half, hitting four-of-13 from distance, but forced Lady Longhorn guards Sarah Swift and Mary Taylor to the bench with foul trouble with dribble penetration.
Martina Presnell scored a game-high 13 points, with senior post Brooke Rhodes adding nine as Cloudland won with defense in this contest.
