Clarissa Ceffalo mixes it up on the wrestling mat with the guys on a daily basis. So when she hits action under the lights against the girls, the Elizabethton senior is faced will little resistance. After all, the two-time and defending state champion hasn’t lost since her sophomore year.
“I love wrestling so much,” Ceffalo said before practice on Wednesday. “I want to continue it after high school. It is my passion now.
“Before it use to be dance, and then soccer, but now wrestling has kind of taken over everything.”
There are plans to wrestle collegiately at Middle Tennessee State, but first things first. Ceffalo is going for the three-peat.
“She’s tougher than a pine knot for one thing,” Elizabethton coach Jeff Nye said. “Her work ethic, she’s really into the sport. She’s got a great attitude, as far as being a natural leader.
“I wish I had a whole team just like her. Her character is great, as far as just all-around school, friends and wrestling.”
Ceffalo certainly shined last weekend at Viking Hall in Bristol. She swept five matches in taking the Brawl In The Hall 185-pound title.
