The Elizabethton City School System’s 450 employees took part in a celebratory lunch Wednesday, recognizing the system being honored as one of five exemplary districts in the state.

Employees in the Elizabethton City School System were treated to a celebratory lunch Wednesday afternoon in honor of the system being named one of five exemplary school districts in the state.

Superintendent Ed Alexander organized the lunch for the 450 employees in the school system. Teachers, assistants, cooks, custodians, principals, administrators, school bus drivers, maintenance workers and all other employees in the system gathered at Elizabethton High School to enjoy a catered lunch.

“We were only one of five in the state, and the only one in this area, to be an exemplary school system,” Alexander said. “That is a pretty good thing.”
