City, county school districts receive TCAP, EOC test results

By

During those special times of the school year when report cards are passed out and sent home, many students might find themselves feeling a little anxious.

With the state’s Department of Education releasing the results of last year’s tests, however, that feeling might be shared by some administrators, too.

Earlier this week, the Elizabethton City and Carter County school systems received the results from last year’s Tennessee Comprehensive Assessment Program and end-of-course examinations.

TCAPs test students from third to eighth grade, while the EOCs are used in high schools.

The Elizabethton City Schools system had a strong showing, finishing above the state’s averages in each of the 11 tested subject areas.

“This kind of stuff comes down to the teachers and the students,” said Eddie Pless, the system’s director of testing, data and early learning. “We try to give them the tools to use, but the bottom line is, they have to make it work.”
