Morgan Chapel FWB

Homecoming will be celebrated at Morgan Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, Roan Mountain, on Sunday, Oct. 14.

The Pleasant News Quartet will perform at 10:15 a.m. The Rev. Greg Whitehead, pastor, will deliver the message at 11:15 a.m.

Lunch will be served after the service.


Fairview UMC

Revival will be held Oct. 14-17 at Fairview United Methodist Church. Services will be held daily at 7 p.m.

Speaker will be John Hitechew, who will deliver “The Never Ending Story.” Hitechew, who was born in Unicoi County, has been married to his wife, Pat, for 29 years. He was pastor at Mayberry United Methodist Church for 11 years. He currently attends Boones Creek United Methodist Church, where he is a lay leader. He is a worship leader, choir director and praise team leader, as well as leader for contemporary worship services.

Special singing will be held each night.

Range Community

Range Community Christian Church will have revival Oct. 24-17.

Sunday services will be held at 9:20 a.m. and 7 p.m. Services Monday through Wednesday will be held at 7 p.m.

The evangelist will be Ken Overdorf, who has preached 54 years in Tennessee, Illinois, West Virginia and Kentucky.

The theme of the revival is “Questions that Quicken the Conscience.”

The church is located at 175 Hart Road.

Piney Flats Baptist

Gospel pianist and recording artist Gordon Mote of the Gaither Vocal Band will be in concert Nov. 1 at the Piney Flats First Baptist Church. The concert will begin at 7 p.m.

Appearing with Mote will be ETSU’s 10 Bucks Worth and 10 Times A Lady.

Tickets are available at a suggested donation of $10.

First FWB

Homecoming will be observed Sunday at First Free Will Baptist Church.

Barry Rowland and Deliverance will sing at the 10 a.m. service. The pastor, the Rev. Nathan Jennings will preach at the 11 a.m. service with the choir presenting special singing. Dinner will follow in the church fellowship hall.

There will be no evening service.

All former members and friends of the congregation are invited to attend.


Christian Men’s Fellowship

The Carter County Christian Men’s Fellowship will meet Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at Pinecrest Christian Church.

Mark Smith will be the guest speaker. A time of fellowship will be held following the worship service.

Valley Forge FWB

Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church will have its church-wide Harvest Celebration at the picnic grounds and fellowship hall Saturday, Oct. 13.

There will be lots of good food, an auction, car show, inflatables, games, pumpkin-carving, bonfire, hay rides, corn hole tournament, volleyball tournament, etc.

Activities will begin at 11 a.m.

The Johnson Family will sing at the 8:45 a.m. service Sunday. The Praise Choir will sing at the 10:45 a.m. service. Pastor Randy Johnson will preach at both services.


Pleasant Beach

Homecoming will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, at Pleasant Beach Baptist Church.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. with Mark Fowler preaching at the 11 a.m. service.

There will be no evening service.

The public is invited to attend.


Moore’s Chapel

Revival will begin Sunday night at Moore’s Chapel Free Will Baptist Church on Stoney Creek

Services Sunday will begin at 6 p.m. Preaching will be the Rev. Nathan Jennings. The Moore’s Chapel choir will sing.

Services Monday through Thursday will begin at 7 p.m. and the schedule of speakers and singers is as follows:

Monday – The Rev. Scotty Jenkins preaching and Junior Woods singing

Tuesday – The Rev. Alan Laws preaching and Headed Home with Carson Peters singing

Wednesday – The Rev. Ray Colbaugh preaching and New Liberty Praise Choir singing

Bethlehem Lutheran

“Take Care” is the sermon topic for the morning worship services at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. The scripture text is Hebrews 3: 12-19. Services are at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Communion will be served at both services.

Sunday School and Bible study will be held at 9:15 a.m.

Interpreted services for the deaf are available on the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

First Presbyterian

Dr. Donald M. Steele will be the guest minister for the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, Oct. 14, at First Presbyterian Church in Elizabethton.

Dr. Steele is a retired Presbyterian minister. His ministry, with an emphasis on peace, justice and inclusion, has spanned more than 40 years.

Adult Forum and Sunday School will begin at 9:45 a.m.

The pastor, the Rev. John Shuck’s radio program, “Religion for Life,” can be heard at 2 p.m. on WETS-FM (89.5). His guest this week is physicist Lawrence Krauss, who will talk about his new book, “A Universe from Nothing: Why There Is Something Rather Than Nothing.”


Watauga First Baptist

The Harvey Family will sing at Watauga First Baptist Church at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.


Memorial Presbyterian

“This Suffering and Exalted Son of Man” will be the theme of message at the 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday at Memorial Presbyterian Church, 100 E. F St., Elizabethton. The scripture text is Dan. 7: 13-14.

The worship team and chancel choir will lead the congregational sining.

A nursery, Children’s Small Talk, and Kidz Praize service will be provided for the children.

Sunday School will begin at 9:30 a.m.

The monthly fellowship dinner will follow the morning worship service.

First U-M

“Unsinkable Faith” will be the topic of the Sunday worship service sermon at 10 a.m. Oct. 14 at the First United Methodist Church. The scripture text is Heb. 11: 1-7.

Following a brief fellowship time, Sunday School will be held at 11:20 a.m.

The Men’s Prayer Group will meet at 9 a.m. in Room 108. The Sunday evening Bible study will be held at 6 p.m. in the fellowship hall.

UMY will meet Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the youth house.

The Abiding Love Bible Study group will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the fellowship hall.

Other meetings scheduled during the week include the G2’s on Tuesday from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. in the youth house and the Coolagers on Wednesday from 3:15 to 5:45 p.m.

The Wednesday prayer and worship service will be held at 7 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Hampton Christian

Hampton Christian Church, located behind Hampton High School, will host a fall festival Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Activities will include games, a bake sale, canned goods, crafts, homemade sewn items and more. There will also be hotdogs with all the fixings.

The festival is a fundraiser for the church’s recreation building kitchen.


Union Hill FWB

Union Hill Free Will Baptist Church will host a fall Bible conference, beginning today and continuing through Sunday.

Guest speakers will be Paul and Kathy Martin.

Services today will include a worship service at 7 p.m.

Breakfast will be served Saturday at 9 a.m. followed by Bible study and a worship service at 7 p.m.

Sunday services will include Sunday School at 10 a.m. and worship services at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m.

The church is located at 125 Lane Hill Road, Elizabethton.

The Rev. Roger Haley is pastor.


Unaka Baptist

The monthly Brotherhood Breakfast at Unaka Baptist Church will be held Saturday, Oct. 13, from 7 to10 a.m. A $6 donation is appreciated

During the breakfast, the WMU will have a bake sale to raise funds for missions.

Riverview Baptist

The Williamson Family will be singing Wednesday, Oct. 17, at 7 p.m. at the Riverview Baptist Church, Erwin.

The group is based in Weleetka, Okla., and includes Donnie Williamson and his wife, Lisa, Darin Hebert, and David Folenius.

The church is located next to Holiday Inn, Exit 40 off I26.
