South Side FWB
Homecoming will be celebrated Sunday, Aug. 26, at Southside Free Will Baptist Church, Jack Bradley Road, at the 11 a.m. worship service, which will feature special singing. There will be no evening worship service.

Homecoming and Old-Fashioned Day will be celebrated Sunday, Aug. 26, at the Blevins Chapel Baptist Church, Roan Mountain.
The service will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will feature special singing by the Phillips Family of Gaffney, S.C. Messages will be presented by David Finney and Cody Montgomery.
Lunch will be served following the service.

Minister Brent Nidiffer will bring the last sermon in the series “Useful” at the Sunday morning worship service at First Christian Church. The sermon series has been from the New Testament book of Philemon. This Sunday’s sermon title is “Useful Knowledge.”
Morning worship begins at 9:45 a.m.
Also, Sunday is Pantry Sunday and everyone is encouraged to bring food items for the church pantry.
Sunday afternoon the youth will participate in a Redneck Water Slide event at the Broyles home. Josh Ringley, youth minister, is in charge of the event.
Sunday at 6 p.m. the worship service will be held in the sanctuary. Children’s classes will meet in the education wing.
The Ladies Bible Study will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Fidelis Classroom.
Tuesday at 10 a.m., everyone is encouraged to attend Tuesday Prayer in the sanctuary. Following the morning prayer session a group, who have prepurchased tickets, will leave for lunch and Barter Theater to see “David: A Man After God’s Own Heart.”
Bible study classes will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m.
Friday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m. there will be a reception for Denny and Sue Dyvig in the church fellowship hall. The Dyvigs are missionaries from Moody Aviation who worshipped at First Christian when they were in school at Moody Aviation in Elizabethton 30 years ago. Currently, they are serving in missions in Kenya.
Valley Forge FWB
Valley Forge Free Will Baptist Church will celebrate its 82nd birthday with a Heritage Day Celebration on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the 10:45 a.m. service. The Bentons from Kingsport will be singing.

The sale will benefit Connie Oliver, who is at Vanderbilt awaiting a bone-marrow transplant. The benefit will offer for purchase baked goods and other items. Sale hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. both days.

St. Elizabeth Church will offer an evening of information on the Catholic Christian faith at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at the church, located at 510 West C St. Any adult who would like a better understanding of what the Catholic church teaches is invited. An opportunity for continued study in what is called the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RICA) will be discussed.

Dan Boner and the ETSU Faculty Bluegrass Band will be featured in an Old Time Gospel Hymn Sing at First United Methodist Church during Sunday’s 10 a.m. worship service. The sermong will be titled “A Reason to Come Home.” Scripture text is Luke 15: 1-3, 11-24.

Bethel Christian Church located in Jonesborough is gearing up for one of the church’s largest events of the year.
Bethel Fest will take place on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 3 to 8 p.m. in the parking lot behind the downtown courthouse located on Main Street in Jonesborough. The communitywide event will showcase a variety of musical entertainment throughout the evening, as well as children’s games, face-painting and free food. The event has been going on for nearly 10 years, as the church will celebrate its 146th anniversary in the fall.

East River Park
Harvest of Talents Week is being celebrated at East River Park Christian Church. The week of activities will conclude Saturday with an arts and crafts sale. All proceeds from the sale as well as the week’s activities have been designated for missions, with part going to world hunger through IDES, and the remaining funds being used for emergency mission needs both locally and abroad.
The sale will begin at 8 a.m. and conclude at 2 p.m. Breakfast will be available from 7:30 a.m. until 10 a.m. Lunch will be available from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Church members have been working throughout the year creating items to sell. Among these items will be stitchery, woodworking, plastic canvas items, vinegar, olive oil, crochet, kitchen towels, paintings and crafts. In addition, there will be apple butter, jelly, canned pickles and homemade fudge for sale.
For children, there will be face-painting, cotton candy and popcorn.
This evening, 7 Day Design will present a concert and youth will present their talents in the church sanctuary. A free will offering will be received for this concert.
Homecoming will be celebrated at Evergreen Free Will Baptist Church in Roan Mountain on Sunday, Aug. 26.
Special speaker during the 10 a.m. morning worship service will be Jeremiah Dehaney from Jamaica.
Special singing will be provided by The Dugger Family.
