Lynn Valley
Lynn Valley Baptist Church will celebrate its 70th anniversary Sunday, Sept. 8. Worship and celebration will begin at 10:15 a.m.
A meal will be provided after the service in the Life Center, which was a NAPA pre-fab building donated by Victor and Rebecca Oliver.
The Rev. Dr. Joseph Greene from Roanoke, Va., will be the guest speaker. The service will also feature a slide presentation of the church’s growth and faith from the beginning to the present.
Pastor Dennis Wilson invites the community, friends and former members to attend.
Also, Lynn Valley Baptist will have its monthly clothes closet Saturday, Sept. 7, from 9 a.m. till noon.
Clothing will be available to all ages for men, women and children.
The clothes closet is held in the church annex.

Phillippi Baptist
The Rev. Joseph and Yvonne Hollifield will be the honorees during a celebration of the Rev. Hollifield’s ninth anniversary as pastor of Phillippi Baptist Church on Sunday, Sept. 8.
The theme is “Pressing On.”
Sunday school will begin at 10 a.m. Morning worship is at 11 a.m. The afternoon service will be at 3 p.m.
Guest speaker for the afternoon service will be Pastor Kirby Hill along with his congregation and choir from Jubilee World Outreach in Johnson City.
Shirley Collie is the chairperson.

Sunset FWB
Sunset Freewill Baptist Church will celebrate its 60th anniversary Sunday, Sept. 8. The church is located at 6676 Highway 19-E between Hampton and Roan Mountain.
Lunch will be served. Everyone is invited to attend, especially those who grew up in the church or those who used to attend.

Holly Springs FWB
Revival will begin Sunday, Sept. 8, at Holly Springs Free Will Baptist Church on Stoney Creek.

First Baptist
Dr. Earl Davis, interim pastor, will bring this week’s sermon, “Your Brother-in-Law and Prayer,” a message based on scripture from Matthew 26: 36-45. The message will be based on the theme of prayer.
Sunday School at First Baptist of Elizabethton will begin at 9:30 a.m. followed by morning worship at 10:45 a.m., which will feature a blend of contemporary worship songs and traditional hymns.

Willow Springs
Willow Springs Baptist Church will observe homecoming Sunday, Sept. 8, at the morning service, beginning at 10:30 a.m.

Blevins Chapel

Bethlehem Lutheran
“Choices” will be the theme of the sermon for Sunday morning worship Sept. 8 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 201 E. Watauga Ave., Johnson City. The scripture text is Deuteronomy 30:15-20.
Morning worship will be held at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Communion will be served at both services.
Sunday school and Bible study will be held at 9:15 a.m.
Interpreted services for the deaf are available on the second and fourth Sundays at the 10:45 a.m. service.

God’s House Full Gospel
A benefit singing will be held Saturday, Sept. 7, at 7 p.m. at God’s House Full Gospel Church.
Funds received will go to help with funeral expenses for a church member who passed away.
Featured singers will include Jeff Milsap and New Creation. God’s Full House Gospel Praise Team will also be singing.

First Christian
On Saturday morning, Sept. 7, at 8 a.m., the Men’s Breakfast at First Christian Church of Elizabethton will be held in the Fellowship Hall. A donation of $4 each is requested.
Sunday morning, Sept. 8, is Grandparents Day! You are encouraged to be in church with your grandparents. Bring them to visit as Minister Brent Nidiffer brings the 9:45 a.m. message at morning worship. The children will present special music.
The evening service will be held at 6 p.m. along with classes for all youth groups.
Following the evening service, the church board will meet in the conference room.
The Ladies Bible Study Group will meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the Fidelis Classroom, led by Patsy Tadlock.
On Tuesday morning, Minister Brent Nidiffer will lead in mid-morning prayer in the sanctuary.
Wednesday evening at 7 p.m., Bible study classes for all age groups will meet in their classrooms.
Thursday morning, the church pantry will distribute food to those who have made prior appointments. At 5:30 p.m., the Winsome Class will meet in the parking lot to go to the Captain’s Table.

First United Methodist Church
First United Methodist Church will feature the sermon “Down at the Potter’s House” based on Jeremiah 18:11 during Sunday’s 10 a.m. worship service.
There will be no Sunday School, Evening Bible Study or UMY this week.
The G2’s (5th-8th) meet on Tuesdays from 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. in the youth house. The Coolagers (K-4th) meet on Wednesdays from 3:15 to 4:45 p.m.
The Wednesday evening service will be held at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.
Rev. Raymond Amos is the pastor and Debbie Fields is the Minister to Children and Youth. A nursery is provided.

Harvest Time Christian
A gospel singing and bean supper will be held at Harvest Time Christian Church on Saturday, Sept. 21, from 3 to 7 p.m.
Groups scheduled to perform include The Garlands; Blue Edition; Harvest Time Kids, Elwood and Amber Dunnavant; No Name But His; and the Bethel Choir and Youth.
Supper will be served. Donations will be accepted and appreciated.
