Christmas Eve accident kills 1, injures others

The Bristol Tennessee Police Department is currently investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred on Monday, Dec. 24,  around 2:06 p.m. The collision occurred on Highway 394 in front of the Food City Shopping Center, in Bristol.

The investigation has revealed that a 2008 gold Buick Lacrosse, driven by George W. Wood, age 88, of 304 Autumn Circle, Bluff City,  pulled out of the Food City shopping center, crossing the roadway into the path of a west bound green & silver 1996 Ford F150 pickup truck, being driven by Charles R. Jenkins, age 68, of Bluff City. Mr. Jenkins and a 15 year old, female passenger were transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The three occupants of the Buick were also transported to an area hospital. The driver of the Buick, George W. Wood, died of injuries. The passengers in the Buick; Trula I. Wood, age 85, the wife of George Wood, is in serious condition and Judy I. Wood, age 63, daughter of George Wood, sustained non-life threatening injuries. Both Trula Wood and Judy Wood reside on Autumn Circle, Bluff City.

Alcohol, drugs and speed are not considered to be factors in this collision at this time. The investigation is continuing at this time.
