KINGSPORT — Maria Chellah was no doubt the fastest girl in town on Friday.
The T.A. Dugger seventh-grader won the 100-meter hurdles and 200 dash, while anchoring the winning 4×200 relay team in the Middle Eight Conference track & field meet at Dobyns-Bennett High School.
The Lady Junior Cyclones finished third place with 75 points. That trailed league heavyweights Ross N. Robinson (146.5) and John Sevier (123).
“I was proud of that,” Dugger coach Andrew Gouge said. “We had a good meet today.”
Chellah crossed first in the 100 hurdles with a clocking of 17.24 seconds. In the 200, she prevailed with sprint of 28.62.
