Cheerleading pact sending ‘Betsy’s Nanney to King

It’s no secret that one ‘Betsy cheerleader knows what it takes to be on top. She served as a flyer for three seasons as a Cyclone, but will now soar with the Tornado cheerleading squad.

Vanessa Nanney reached her highest pyramid yet by signing scholarship papers with King University on Tuesday at Elizabethton High School. The talented Nanny was known to dazzle crowds at the games with her athleticism — and will continue that role with the NCAA Division II school.

She’s done competitive cheering for years including three as a member of the squads at EHS during her freshman, junior and senior years. Her sister Victoria cheered at Elizabethton and is now starring in that role at ETSU. Vanessa said it was seeing her that pushed her toward pursuing a career in cheerleading.
