CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — A Christian congregation in Chattanooga is erecting tall crosses at its church along Interstate 75.

By the end of the week, a 125-foot-tall cross, flanked by two 100-foot-tall crosses will stand at The Crossing Church, a Church of God congregation’s property.

The Rev. Terry Harris told the Chattooga Times Free Press that the project cost $700,000 and required approval of the Tennessee Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration, along with local permitting.

Harris said the crosses are intended to remind people in the 75,000 vehicles that pass the church daily of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
