Applications are now being accepted for non-profits wanting a seat at the table when it comes time to dish up the proceeds from the Taste of Carter County event.

Events and Marketing Coordinator Stephanie McKinney said applications for the non-profits could be picked up at the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce or at Carter County Bank.

The deadline to return the applications is May 8, and the Taste of Carter County planning committee will notify the winning agency by June 3.

This is the third year the proceeds from the Taste of Carter County have been given to a local non-profit agency.

The first year, the funds were shared with Hale Community Ministry’s backpack program. The program provides food to children so they can have meals at home after school.

Last year, the Elizabethton/Carter County Community Foundation received the proceeds from the Taste of Carter County. The foundation hosts fundraisers and distributes the raised money back to other non-profits that benefit Carter County residents.

The Taste of Carter County will be held June 18 at 5:30 p.m. at Elizabethton High School. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the Chamber of Commerce.
