The Carter County Hunting and Fishing Association will hold a Tennessee handgun permit class at 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 8-9, in the old upstairs courtroom of the Carter County Courthouse.
Participants must attend both nights and complete qualification. The CCHFA supplies the pistols as well as the ammunition for the qualification part of the class. The class organizers qualify participants at a time convenient to each person’s schedule at the Carter County Sheriff’s range. The club and classes are covered by National Rifle Association liability insurance. All participants need to bring is money, a valid driver’s license, a pen and some paper.
Participants will also be taught in depth so that you can knowledgeably select a pistol that is best suited for you. If you are interested, call a member of the association or call 474-6467, 542-8672 or 542-2433.
Regardless of your shooting knowledge or expertise, you will find this class both informative and a good review of the basics. It is taught by state- and NRA-certified CCHFA members who have been teaching marksmanship for over 40 years. The class costs $50.
The CCHFA is a non-profit organization and all money earned from these classes goes into improving hunting, fishing and gun safety in Carter County.
