Callahan, Buck lead EHS grapplers into regional

The Region 1 Wrestling Tournament is Friday and Saturday at Viking Hall in Bristol, and Elizabethton’s best bets to qualify for the state tournament are senior Dalton Callahan and junior Logan Buck.
Each advanced to Franklin a year ago.
On the girls’ side, senior and two-time defending state champion Clarissa Ceffalo (185 pounds) of Elizabethton has already qualified.
“Everybody’s had a great season,” Elizabethton coach Jeff Nye said before Wednesday’s practice. “I think everybody’s improved a lot, learned a lot and definitely are in shape. If they’re not they’re in trouble, but as far as getting ready — if they aren’t ready now there’s nothing in the next two days that’s going to change the outcome.
“The only thing now is they’ve just got to get their minds ready for us.”
