BRISTOL — Kyle Busch is one step closer to owning another Bristol weekend.
The Sprint Cup pole sitter surged past Kevin Harvick and held off charging rookie Kyle Larson to the checkered flag to win Saturday’s Jeff Foxworthy’s Grit Chips 300 Nationwide Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway.
Larson caught Busch in lapped traffic on the final lap and took the high side in turns three and four before making contact along the inside wall. Rowdy crossed the finish line by a nose.
“I did everything that I could to protect the momentum,” said Busch, the all-time winningest driver in the second-tier NASCAR series. “I knew the 70 car would be slow off the top and I thought I had enough on the bottom to keep the 32 off my quarter panel.
