Hampton’s baseball program has climbed to respectability this spring, and on Monday took care of business as the Watauga Valley Conference campaign winds down.
Behind a combined three-hitter from Jeffery Hughis and Kody Lauderback, the Bulldogs held off visiting perennial Class A power University High 2-1.
“This is one of those deals where we’re battling to stay out of the play-in game,” Hampton coach Matthew Hardin said. “These kids knew what was on the line today. We went out and played well in places, we’ve played well in games and this is one of the three or four games this year that we’ve been able to put it all together.
