Bulldogs shake Jr. Bucs in second half

Sophomore guard Coby Jones poured in 20 points on Friday night against University High like adding milk to his morning coffee, and Hampton’s third-quarter surge pushed the Bulldogs past the Junior Buccaneers 71-48 in a Watauga Valley Conference clash at VanHuss-White Gym.

“First half we were reaching and grabbing defensively,” said Bulldogs head coach Ned Smith. “In the second half we starting moving our feet much better on defense. We got that run going in the third quarter and forced them into some bad shots. I thought our bench really came through for us tonight, Coby and Stone Hutchinson both had good games for us off the bench.”
