JOHNSON CITY — Less than 24 hours after its historic win in Florida, East Tennessee State’s baseball team accepted the role of Cinderella.
The Atlantic Sun champions following Sunday’s wire-to-wire, 7-2 win over Kennesaw State at Stetson University, the Buccaneers watched intently Monday at Poor Richard’s Deli as their name hit the ESPNU screen.
The program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1981 will run through the mid-state.
Hello, Vanderbilt.
ETSU will try to play the role of conference mate Florida Gulf Coast’s men’s basketball team, albeit on the diamond, as it continues its journey Friday on the road against the in-state SEC power and number two overall seeded Commodores in a nationally-televised game (ESPNU, 7 p.m.)
