Bounleua “Bet” Sonekeo, 38, of Johnson City, passed away on Monday, December 2, 2013. He was accompanied in death by his wife, Misty Dawn Sonekeo.
Mr. Sonekeo was the son of the late Khamtanh and Khamphio Sonekeo and was born in Nong Khai, Thialand.
Bet went to Elizabethton High School and worked as a chef for many years. Bet was well loved by family and friends. He was well known for his easy smile and sense of humor. Bet enjoyed sports and raising specialty fish. He was a loving and faithful husband and loved his children, Topanga Jade Sonekeo and stepson, Logan Street, with all his heart.
Mr. Sonekeo is survived by his daughter, Topanga Jade Sonekeo; a stepson, Logan Street; six sisters, Manichanh Sonekeo Douang Phimvong of Laos, Souksavanh Sonekeo of Canada, Bouarivanh Sonekeo of Massachusetts, Chansy Sonekeo Khavsavang of Elizabethton, Bouariphanh Sonekeo Sok of Massachusetts, and Simmali Sonekeo King of Johnson City; three brothers, Bouaphanh Sonekeo of Maryland, Thotsakanh Sonekeo of Elizabethton, and Chantharhart “Sun” Sonekeo of Johnson City; and 21 nieces and nephews.
The family requests the comfort and honor of your presence at the Celebration of Life service for Mr. Sonekeo at 3 p.m. Sunday, February 23, in the Chapel of Peace at Tetrick Funeral Home, Elizabethton. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, prior to the service on Sunday. Online condolences may be sent to the family by visiting and signing the guest book.
