BMS set for August NASCAR trifecta

The highways are jammed with folks from outside of the region. It can only mean one thing.

It’s Bristol week.

NASCAR brings all three of its national series plus the modified cars to the half-mile for three days of racing action beneath the lights at Bristol Motor Speedway.

The unpredictability factor always makes this week the most special racing week of the season for the region.

From Earnhardt-Labonte to last year’s blow-up involving Tony Stewart, there’s always an ounce of drama this time of year.

Unlike many previous seasons, there isn’t much drama enveloping the Sprint Cup circuit going into Saturday’s Irwin Tools Night Race as Jimmie Johnson has inserted himself as a runaway favorite to capture another title with much of the field still battling for a spot in the annual season-ending chase.
