Betsy Bash will make its debut Saturday9:48 am | October 26, 2012
Visitors to Downtown Elizabethton will be transported back in time to the 1950s Saturday when the first Betsy Bash makes its debut.
The Downtown Business Association is sponsoring the Betsy Bash, which is the first festival the group has held. The DBA took over the former Octoberfest from the Elizabethton/Carter County Chamber of Commerce.
The DBA renamed the festival and made some changes to the event. Unlike Octoberfest, the festival will not offer arts and crafts vendors. Instead, the Betsy Bash will focus on family activities and contests.
DBA President John Bunn said the Betsy Bash will provide a variety of activities throughout the day. Merchants will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., and some of them will be offering special sales.
