Betsy Band storms the Stone Castle

Elizabethton High School’s Betsy Band captured Grand Champion honors at Bristol’s Music in the Castle Saturday, beating Band4x4Cout local rivals Sullivan South and Science Hill.

The 2012 Tennessee Division II State Champion Betsy Band went up against 28 local and regional bands from four states at the 2013 Music in the Castle Marching Band Competition held at Tennessee High School Stone Castle Stadium.

The band’s show, titled “Our Town,” tells a story about Elizabethton.

In addition, Betsy Band also won several awards in the AAAAA class, which was comprised of a total of six bands. They won first place Visual, first place Overall Effect and first place Colorguard, and drum major Hannah Manuel took the title of first place Drum Major. They were also named AAAA/AAAAA Class Champion.

They compete again in the Volunteer Classic in Maryville on Saturday, Oct. 12.
